Bread Break
Bread Break was founded as a food salvage ministry of Messiah New Hope in 2011. In 2021, it became its own 501c3, but it continues to operate out of the MNH building and numerous members of the congregation continue to serve as part of the ministry.
Food Pantry
The Messiah New Hope food pantry is open every Monday from 10 am-12 pm. In the fall of 2023, we began evening operations once/month, from 6-7 pm, on the 4th Wednesday of the month.
Charis Ministry Partners
In 2009, Charis ministries (www.charissf.org) was founded by 13 Lutheran (ELCA) congregations, including Messiah New Hope. Their ministries include the mobile food pantry “Food to You” and “Necessities for Neighbors”. Food to You operates out of Messiah New Hope monthly on the 2nd Thursday of the month and volunteers from MNH serve with both ministries throughout the year.
Free Rummage
The Free Rummage is our biggest service event of the year; it always takes place the last Saturday of July. Beginning in June, we collect donations of clothing, furniture, and household items. Throughout June and July, volunteers put in countless hours sorting through and organizing donations which are then given away at no cost. Several hundred people typically attend the event.
Necessities Market
We’ve stocked a room near our food pantry with hygiene, home, kitchen, childcare, and other items for distribution. The Market is open during established pantry hours: Mondays 10 am-12 pm and the 4th Wednesday 6-7pm.
