Greeter:

Greeters are the first people everyone sees as they walk through the door at Messiah New Hope.  Greeters hold the door, say hello, and introduce themselves to guests and visitors.

A Greeter's Duties
The Greeter’s job is to make Sunday Morning Worship an inviting place for every single person who walks through our door.  You share the love of Christ not so much by what you do but more by the WAY YOU DO IT.  It’s the little things that make the difference, such as:
-Smiling and speaking to every person,
-Asking, “Can I help you?”
-Introducing Yourself to people you haven’t met before,
-Watching out for visitors who may need your assistance in finding child care, a restroom, a changing table (located in the restroom on the east side of the welcome area).
-Seeking out and visiting with new visitors after worship,
-Introducing new visitors to your friends or acquaintances at church,
-Going the extra mile to answer a person’s question,
-Resisting the temptation to visit with your friends which then causes you to be inattentive to others,
-Wearing a name tag so that the visitor can easily identify you as someone who can help,
-Arriving earlier than all of our other guests so that no one enters our church without a warm greeting and without someone there to provide assistance if it is needed.

Basic Duties:

BEFORE WORSHIP
1. Arrive 20 minutes early!
Check in with Head Usher for instructions.
Check in at the Leadership Information Station (beside the secretary’s desk) for supplies and name tags.  PUT ON A NAME TAG!
2.  Stand at the main entrance and help people feel welcome by:
    -Opening the door for them.
    -Warmly smiling and greeting them.
-Introducing yourself to folks whose names you haven’t learned yet.  Try saying, “I don’t think I’ve learned your name yet.”
3.  Watch out for people who look like they may need assistance.    Ask, “Can I help you?”

DURING WORSHIP
4.  Make yourself available to the Ushers for assistance with the offering, setting up extra chairs, seating late comers, etc.
5.  Watch for late comers and greet them.

AFTER WORSHIP
6.  Seek out new visitors.  Visit with them and introduce them to your friends and acquaintances.

7.  Other duties, questions:  On certain Sundays there may be other duties or you may have questions.  That’s why step 1 is important!
