Pastor Jeff is married to Pastor Siri Sorenson, a pastor who serves Grace Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.  They have two children, Anna, 10 and Jorey, 7, who attend Brandon Elementary.  He also has two adopted sons: Mike who lives in Alliance, NE and Wayne who lives in Mellette, SD. Wayne is married to Mishel, and Skylar, Chelsea and Talin are his grandchildren.

He has a particular interest in helping the church to reconnect with younger generations, and earned a Doctor of Ministry in 2008 with a focus on preaching into the postmodern turn.  He particularly enjoys getting to know people, evangelism, helping congregations to be emotionally healthy, outreach and global service, and preaching.  Current leadership responsibilities beyond Messiah New Hope include service on the ELCA Church Council.

His personal interests include his Simmental cattle, hunting, gardening and doing all things fun with his young family.  

Pastor Jeff Sorenson has served as a pastor in South Dakota since 1983.  He served at Trinity in Edgemont, developed a new congregation, Holy Cross in Aberdeen, served as Assistant to the Bishop of the South Dakota Synod, and recently served as interim pastor at Augustana in Sioux Falls and Trinity in Madison.
